who we assist

families of deceased:

The loss of a loved one can be most difficult.  Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales is available after distribution of personal items to sell remaining items the family does not need or cannot use.  An estate sale provides an impartial, easy and cost-effective manner in which the family can proceed in the settlement of the estate.

relocating professionals:

When an overseas employment, transfer or business opportunity arises one may need to relocate to another country.  It may then become necessary to sell rather than move furniture and belongings.  Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales is able to quickly and fairly evaluate, price and liquidate even the smallest of residences.

real estate professionals:

Asheville Estate Sales -District Estate Sales can be as a very useful tool for Realtors.  When the selling family is in need of assistance in ‘clearing out’ their home an estate sale is a wise choice.  By carrying out an on-site two-day sale and sweeping the house clean,  we can aid the seller in preparing their home for selling and/or for closing.  The property exposure an estate sale brings also serves as a useful realtors marketing tool.

wills and estate attorneys:

Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales provides a valuable service to your clients by ethically valuing and selling all personal property.  While close contact is maintained with you or your client’s families,  AES-DES handles all research, pricing and conducting of the estate sale.

individuals downsizing:

When homeowners and seniors make the decision to simplify their lives by downsizing Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales is the obvious choice.  Moving is a hectic and stressful time.  AES-DES expertly takes care of all pricing and management of your profitable sale while you tend to other pressing matters.

combining households:

Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales is prepared to assist individuals combing two households.  This may create the need to conduct a combined sale.  Items may need to be moved from one location to the other for the sale.  We are prepared to assist, stage and manage when this need arises.

divorcing individuals:

If private properties must be sold in the event of a divorce, with the consent of both individuals,  Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales can provide a valuable service by impartially valuing these items and directing the sale.

how a sale works

When the individual (or spokesperson) is ready for the sale a simple call and a calendar is just about all that’s necessary. We will come to the location and assess managing your sale.  At that time we will discuss the commission, dates for the sale and do our best to answer any questions that may arise.

We do ask that all items to be sold be in place.  By this we mean that all family and friend’s distributions, and charitable donations have been made.  What we see upon consultation is what will be sold at the sale.  If necessary, these arrangements may be made by email or telephone if the family is out of the area.

After viewing the estate we can decide upon a weekend that fits your schedule, (the client is not required to be in town or present the weekend of the sale).  We then get to work skillfully sorting, pricing and staging your sale.  We, of course, aim for a fair market value of all property.  All sales are well staffed.

At the conclusion of the sale, if necessary,  arrangements can be made to donate any unsold items to charity and provide you with the deduction form.

day of the sale

Usually,  Asheville Estate Sales - District Estate Sales conducts a two-day sale.  The size of the location dictates the number of staff necessary per sale. All sales are well staffed.

We advertise the sale, with directions, in multiple local publications.  Internet contacts, web site and location postings in the area are also utilized.  The day of the sale we clearly guide customers with professional signage.

The sale takes place on Saturday, 9am to 4 pm, and Sunday 12pm to 4pm,  (this is somewhat flexible depending on the size of estate).

All items are to be sold at full price on Saturday.  No exceptions.  Customers are allowed to leave a bid on Saturday for any item that may not sell at the Saturday full price.  The bid must be for over ½ price.  If the item did not sell at the full Saturday price,  the highest bidder will be notified and allowed to pick up items on Sunday.

Items remaining on Sunday will be sold at ½ price.

history and links

Maria and Rebecca launched the estate sale business in 2001 and have been privileged to conduct many sales since then.  The sales themselves though a lot of work,  are a lot of fun.  Meeting with the clients and assisting them in resolving their needs is very fulfilling.  Helping the customers the day of the sale and knowing someone has found just what they needed or wanted is satisfying.

Keeping personal property in circulation as opposed to ‘buying all new’ is environmentally advantageous and reduces strain on our area landfills. This, of course, is very worthwhile.
